Valentine's Beauty Boost

Check out these great new looks and trends for Valentine's 2010.

Tousle it up! Soft, touchable and tousled: that's the latest look for hair. To get the look, add some mousse and blow dry your hair with a basket diffuser, lifting hair at the roots with your hands as you dry, and softly "scrunching" as you go, to give hair volume and a soft curl. Touch up the ends with a curling iron, but keep things smooth around the face. Then add a light touch of hairspray. Looking for a special style for Valentine's Day? Gather your tousled locks at the nape of the neck, twist and pin them into a side-swept bun, leaving out a few curly wisps.

Look ravishing in red. This year, scarlet is the big fashion colour. For Valentine's Day, you can do the red dress, but make it the only red item in your outfit. Steer away from black accessories and instead go with neutrals like nude, beige or metallics. If you prefer to wear red as an accent piece, a great red silk blouse is very fashion-forward this season. Or, go with a red tank under a neutral jacket, sweater or top, and add some slick red beads.

Pucker up! On Cupid's special day nothing says "love" like ruby red lips. Remember, the redder the lips, the more neutral and subdued the rest of your makeup should be, so your lips are the centre of attention. Go for a matte lipstick and a neutral lip liner to ensure your lip colour stands out and stays in place. If your eyes are your best feature and you love the look of a smoky eye, choose a softer red lip shade in a shimmering gloss. If you're wearing red clothing, make sure your red lips are in the same family, and tone down the cheeks.

Shimmering tips 'n toes. Add some finishing touches to your Valentine's Day outfit with a lovely Cupid-inspired nail polish. This year's top hits aren't just traditional red. Nail polish companies like Nicole by OPI are introducing flirty and feminine new shades of polish in shades from dreamy sweet pink, to pretty bright pink, to deep riveting red, all with a festive touch of glitter.

Sweet scents. This Valentine's Day, the newest fragrances are sweet and delicious! Check out DKNY Delicious Candy Apples, a trio of fragrances inspired by candy apples at a fair! Oriens by Van Cleef & Arpels is fruity and floral, with top notes of mandarin, raspberry and black currant; a very youthful fruity floral scent is Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers Sunshine Cuties. And if sweet isn't your thing, try Burberry Sport, a fresh floral scent inspired by dynamic movement.
